War/Environment

Digital work 2008
I had to do the cover pages for two chapters of a book my ethics class was making. I got War, and...well the environment. I used a bunch of shapes, close up...so when you pull away, they make the image. If you blow up the images, they won't look as good as you will see the shapes lol.

Narrative Sketches

Sketches 2006
Sketches from my final project. I made a comic about...me I guess.

Wedding Invite

Digital Work 2009
These guys were on the wedding invites!

Pillows, Teddys, Monkeys..Oh My!

Oil Painting 2004
This oil painting was an abstraction of the stuffed animals on my wife's old bed at VCU. Even though the thumbnail is small the painting is about 3ft x 3ft.

Bike

Charcoal 2005
This image was created by filling the page with charcoal and then erasing it away. I erased where the light would hit the bike.

Stiff Apple

Charcoal 2002
Charcoal drawing of a mannequin holding an apple.

VCU Fantasy

Digital Work 2007
This was for a Litho Print I was going to do...well, I did the print but someone destroyed it before I could even get a grade. The concept is about mashing VCU with Final Fantasy. Again, you might not catch everything if you weren't going there (for instance, there is a ram (our mascot), plaza was an art store, and the wizard has an exacto knife). Of course, I don't work with nintendo...well I review their games but that's another site altogether lol.

Get Some!

Digital Sketch 2005
Just sketching around.

Black and Color

Digital sketches 2005
These were more of the movie stills, done using just shapes. He is sup to be in the snow...you had to be there.

Peace (from far)

Oil Painting 2007
This was my best painting...period. Sorry to say that this was the only picture I have, as I donated it to my church. It has to do with Peace while in the midst of a storm. In the lower left there is a guy fishing ontop of a building. Water is everywhere and fire is burning in the background. It's pretty big, 3 ft by 6 ft. I will get a better picture soon I promise!

Bear in Box

Oil Painting 2004 er...05?
This painting was morphed from other paintings. What we did each day was paint something, wipe the canvas and start something new the next day. Even though we started over, you could still see some of the paint from the last image. I guess this was to condition us not to be too attached to our work to early. The final painting on this canvas is very different, I will add that one when I can.

Mag

Pastels 2005
This is Magneto from Marvel's Xmen comic. I love drawing ; )

Gamer

Digital Sketche 2007
I was inspired by Justin Bua. This later became a litho print.

Well I Never!

Digital Sketch 2005
These are two characters from a comic I am working on. Of course, they look a lot better as my skill has grown since then. If you got an invite to my wedding, they may look familiar : )

Enter

Digital Sketch 2005
This was when I started to use photoshop in a way that spoke to me....that was really complicated. This was when I got comfirtable with photoshop....thats better. This was to be the entrance to a website I was working on in my Flash class. The website was a bust but I got some cool images anyways.

Pratt's Example

Digital Sketches 2005
This was an example of forming an image with only shapes. George Pratt's is the one thats upside down. He wanted to show me how you don't need to worry about fine details till later, which is why it is upside down. Feel free to compare.

Digital sketches

Digital/ Photoshop 2005
These were studies in working with nothing but shapes. George Pratt, my prof. at the time, took movie stills and had us sketch them as shapes. Once you got better with the shapes, you would add more and more layers to create awesome works. (kinda like painting). check out his website and Goodbrush.com for examples.

ill Man Sketches

Digtial Sketches/ Photoshop 2005
These were are all skecthes I was working on to use in a final drawing. It was to be a cover to the Illustrated Man book. I wanted to go with the tats feel as if they were a part of the real world. The final project was erased from my scan disk, along with other works...sigh...

Sonic

Oil Painting 2006
I am a gamer...yup.

Hulk Buster Iron Man

Oil Painting 2006
I am not really proud of this painting. Again, learning a new way of using oils. Same as the (much better) Sonic painting.

Reality 2

Oil Painting 2007
I believe I was getting really deep at this point...so much so that it is hard to remember the full meaning lol. The bridge, which is suposed to lead you across the water, lead you into it instead. You aren't falling or anything, it's almost like walking into a water fall (only the water is rapidly moving to the right). This was also another one that was hard to photograph...so I included to shots.

Reality

Oil Painting 2007
Using bridges as a metaphor for life...

Dorm room

Oil Painting 2006
I was trying a new way of painting....it didn't work out for me lol. I did say I was showing the bad and the good right...

Stay Puffy

Screen Print 2006
This is another screen print. If you don't know who this is, then you must not be a Ghostbusters fan lol. I need to make a print of the other Ghostbusters (the ones with the 2 guys and the gorilla) show!

Ghost Mario

Screen Print 2006
Screen prints are fun, yet time consuming. You have to take one color and apply that to everything in your image that shares that color. First, draw a picture. Then you trace it onto cells and color everything in black. The cell (which is see-through) goes onto a silk screen and is exposed to light. The only parts that show are the parts on the cell. After that, you cover up what ever you don't want to color. So, when you add the ink (lets say your coloring the hat and shirt), you cover everything else with paper. The sheet that you are printing on is placed under the screen (using tape to make sure you put it in the right place for each color). When you run the red ink over the screen, it falls through the parts marked by the cell (that aren't covered). You have to do this for each color, one at a time. Did I mention you have to wait for each one to dry before starting a new color lol. This was my first one, which is why there are only a few colors!

VCU/GTA

Litho Print 2007
So I got a little better. I wanted to depict my view of VCU at the time, GTA style (if you've ever seen a GTA box art you know what I mean). I fear, however, that you won't get the images unless you at least visited VCU though lol.

NES

Litho Print 2006
This isn't really special. I just wanted to do something with Zelda. I used a print of a Legend of Zelda poster, then added graffiti like images. These were later burned into the metal. I was learning how to draw on them (any oil touching the plate would burn into it...even from your fingers lol).

Sleuth

Ecthing 2006
This one was also inspired by Rembrant (like Firefight). I wanted to merge futuristic scenes with classic themes (almost steampunk but not quite). Again the main light would be the floating lamp.

Fight

Litho Print 2007
Funny thing about this one, the chaos that is all over was done on accident. Litho prints require a strick step by step appoarch (your burning images into metal before printing, similar to etchings)!

Firefight

Etching 2006
I was going for an action scene where the only light is coming from the robot's gun. I was inspired by Rembrants use of light and dark in his etchings.

Faith

Oil Painting 2007
I was going a little abstract with my painting in 07...although I still wanted an illustrated quality. It's not really hard to see where I was going with this one.
